Restoration of Lausanne’s Public Heritage

Built in the 1920s, the Chauderon Stairs are part of Lausanne's historical heritage and serve as a central pedestrian thoroughfare. Closed since 2013 for safety reasons, major restoration and remediation work has been undertaken to rehabilitate the site. To highlight this recent renovation, the City of Lausanne launched a call for artistic projects in May 2022, aiming to adorn the stairs with a mural.

In early July 2022, the proposal by artists Tami Hopf and Dahflo was selected by the city. Combining elements of humanity, nature, and abstraction, their project takes into account the unique characteristics of the location and aligns with the architectural revitalization of this historic structure.
